A social worker using a paper resource list to find where to place a client for the night.

During a night shadowing non-profit service providers as they offered assistance to homeless people sleeping on subways and in stations, we learned about the challenges social workers face in providing the correct information and assistance to their clients. Many times, information about shelters and resource centers is not up-to-date and crucial data such as the number of open beds is not clear until a phone call or visit is made. In attempting to provide a solution to this issue, my team piloted CityBook.
